In 2019, I lost my dad, Glen Adnam, to cancer.
Anyone who has watched a loved one go through cancer treatment understands how difficult that journey can be. It affects not only the person receiving treatment but also their family, friends, and everyone who loves them.
Watching my dad navigate cancer changed me forever.
It showed me the importance of compassion.
It showed me the power of community.
And it showed me how much comfort can come from even the smallest gestures during life’s hardest moments.
Today, I am honored to launch The Glen Adnam Cancer Comfort Basket Project in his memory.
Why This Project Matters
Cancer treatment can be physically and emotionally exhausting.
Many patients spend countless hours attending appointments, receiving treatments, and navigating the challenges that come with their diagnosis.
While we cannot take away the difficulty of that journey, we can help make it a little more comfortable.
The goal of this project is simple:
To provide comfort, encouragement, and practical support to individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Through donations and community support, I hope to create and distribute Cancer Comfort Baskets to patients receiving treatment through:
- Allan Blair Cancer Centre
- St. Joseph’s Hospital
- Local Cancer Lodges
I also hope to provide appreciation baskets for the incredible nurses and healthcare professionals who care for patients every day.
What’s Included in the Comfort Baskets?
Each basket is thoughtfully designed to include items that can provide comfort and support during treatment, including:
- Warm socks and grippy hospital socks
- Cooling blankets
- Handheld fans
- Port covers
- Head coverings for hair loss
- Satin pillowcases
- Cooling gloves
- Soft toothbrushes
- Self-care and comfort items
While these items may seem small, they can bring comfort, dignity, and encouragement during an incredibly challenging time.
